SCR 213 - Digital Forensics Fundamentals

2 Credits

Based on EC-Council’s Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator industry-based certification, this course presents a basic methodologies in computer forensics and evidence analysis. This is a preparatory course covering forensic investigation techniques. It enables students to acquire hands-on experience with industry-accepted toolsets that are necessary in the successful implementation of evidence acquisition leading to criminal prosecution.

Prerequisite(s): CPT-106 & CPT-115 both with a grade of C or higher

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Explain key issues related to computer forensics
2. Differentiate the types of digital evidence
3. Examine the computer forensic investigation process and its phases
4. Appraise different types of disk drives and file systems
5. Explain data acquisition methods and data acquisition methodology
6. Examine anti-forensics techniques and countermeasures
